~Linda Macario – Renewal~

The Italian artist now has a new BJD, a new website and a new country to call home.

Q: Tell me a bit about the big changes you have been undergoing.

A: Since last year some changes happened in my life, the most important is the moving to the US from Italy.  Finally I’ve got the green card and now I’m officially a new US resident.

At the same time I have lived through a great change in my personal life, but thanks to the dolls and the love of my family and children, I went ahead and I started this 2018 as a new page of my life.

At the threshold of 40 years I can begin a new and exciting journey. I hope that my enthusiasm can be grasped by my creations, in fact there are several new dolls coming for this and the next year. One of these new ones is undoubtedly my little Martha named after my mother as a gift for her. The collaboration with Jpopdoll is more strong and active then ever.

Q: Are you mostly settled in your new home now?

A: I’m finally settled in my new home. My stuff from the studio in Italy is here (at least the most important). I’m feeling like I’m at home and ready for this new great adventure!

Q: Do you have a studio set up?

A: I’ve created my studio in the living room, my brand new desk and an old restored chair makes the perfect corner where I express my creativity. There’s also a lot of natural light here, and this is a very good thing because light can make the difference when sculpting and painting dolls. I’m the kind of creative that prefers an organized mess to the tidy workplace, I would like to be more disciplined but I can’t!

Q: Will you continue to make OOAK, BJD and Porcelain dolls?

A: I’m planning to work on some new OOAK BJD dolls and soon as possible to buy a new kiln for the porcelain. Anyway, I have to also work on commissions for resin dolls and face-ups.

There are two BJDs that are coming very soon, one is Martha and one is Clover. Both are in the process of being reproduced in resin. Clover will be available for pre-order probably this summer. The prototype in resin should come for the end of May.

Martha is now on pre-order as a customized artist full-set on my website Linda Macario Dolls, but she will be also available very soon as a basic doll at Jpop Dolls. To be notified of the exact date of pre-order, you can subscribe at Jpop Dolls or at Linda Macario Dolls, both is better.

Q: Is Martha your first doll since you moved? Can you tell me more about her?

A: Martha “was born” in Italy, I worked on this sculpt since last fall, then I had to stop the project due to the move, but immediately after my arrival here, I decided to complete her because I’ve seen in Martha a good way to start my doll adventure in the US. That’s why with Grace we decided to offer this doll in two different ways.

It’s a very special doll, and the collectors who buy the artist full-set dooesn’t buy just one of my dolls but also one part of my professional life, a step forward in my artistic improvement. I would like to thank all collectors that choose my dolls because they are doing much more than buying a doll, they are supporting  me and my art. I’m really grateful for that.

Q: Can you tell me more about Clover? How big is she?

A: Clover is an 11 inches tall doll like Martha but all different in style, more like a Blythe or Pullip doll, big head on a very slim body. At the moment the factory is making the molds for the resin production. I should receive the samples by the end of May.

Q: Will Clover be sold on both your website and Jpop like Martha?

A: Clover will sell on Jpopdolls as a basic doll (nude with factory face-up).  Probably I will offer a limited number of customized full-sets but not on a pre-order basis.

Q: Have you started any new dolls since your move?

A: I’m working on some new creations that will be ready in the next months, I will update soon 🙂

My passion for dolls is more strong than ever, and I wish this to be clear in the upcoming creations.  I would like to thank all the people that helped make it happen.
