~Zorgah, My New BJD~

After years of working and re-working her doll, Nathalie has finally completed Zorgah her Orc. The doll is available for pre-order starting December 1st.

It is always very exciting for me to present one of my creations, especially when I have spent so much time on it. But it’s also a bit scary because I never know if people are going to like it or not. And sometimes, I’d like to hide in a very small mouse hole…

I have finally seen the culmination of several years of work. I started this BJD in 2017. I really wanted to propose something different. I spent a lot of time working on the body to have a result that combines the power of orc (with a well-developed musculature) and softness and femininity. So we needed muscles, but not too many muscles!

My work is also very long because I want every detail to be successful and I want to do everything by hand. I work with a Japanese clay: the Ladoll. There are several kinds and my favorite is the Ladoll Premix.

Working by hand is much harder and longer than working by computer. As for symmetry, you have to be able to question your work and start over and over again, until the sculpture is balanced. You also have to be patient because there are drying times to respect, and you can’t always work on a piece when you want to. You can’t zoom in on the small parts either, you have to deal with it. And when a part is broken, it’s broken. No turning back is possible. But at a time when computers are everywhere and helping us fill our gaps, I think it’s important to continue to cultivate manual skills. What I do is absolutely and completely the result of my hands and long hours of patience. So I hope you’ll like my orc because I put my heart and soul into it.

She’s the biggest BJD I’ve ever made. She is 47 cm long and weighs 1,175 kg.
It is also the first time that I have made two heads for the same character. But it allowed me to give it a very aggressive side and a softer, more sensual side.

You can also order one body and two heads to have the pleasure of changing the expression of your orc. I couldn’t do two faces plates with a single head back (which would have been easier for me) because the open mouth required a slightly longer head back if I wanted the result to be pretty. On the other hand, the teeth will be very easy to make up: in two parts, they are easily removed and put on. I also made a helmet and an axe that will be available.

The preorder will start on December 1st. Several resin colors will be available: two different greens, sand, tan, and red! This is the first time I’ve proposed red. This is a colour I had made especially for the occasion and I must say that it is my favorite!
