~Impldoll Star Female MGB~

Late last summer, ImplDoll  introduced a new Star line female body with extra joints. For anyone that is curious about how this would add to posing, here’s a closer look.

The Star Female Body MGB is currently sold alone without a head. The body itself is 60cm tall and it is about 65cm tall with a standard head included. As you can see below, the most noticeable feature, the shoulder joints, are designed to allow you to shrug her shoulders.  At rest, the joints create a straighter shoulder silhouette than the standard more sloping shoulder.  An extra neck joint runs from the base of the neck to the head.

At the hip and upper leg joints are a double joint which has silicone kips where the legs are attached.

In the photo below, the body to the right of the Star MGB body is the original Star body, the first body the company ever produced for the line. That body was cast in their old white resin which was never as white as the company’s current white which is more like snow.

The newer Impldoll bodies have more finely sculpted details. For example, when comparing the hands, the shape of the new body’s fingers is more natural. The feet, however, are essentially the same on both bodies.

The elbows are double-jointed. They have a wide range of motion.  The shoulder joints increase their reach. The body is strung pretty tightly, so the shoulder joints tend to angle upward on their own at times, so they occasionally need to be pushed down to line back up with the shoulder. Once the elastic has loosened a bit, this problem may be less prominent.

When moving the neck and shoulder, you can achieve some dynamic angles in posing. The torso joint moves around quite a bit too which can create some interesting curves. There are ridges on the back to hold the upper torso in place.

The neck joint rises up from the collar bone area like a tree trunk. It has a curved base so it rolls around in the neck hole. With the shoulder and extra neck joint, the area around the head has the potential to create a wide variety of head/upper body poses.

The knee joint has a raised knee area on the part but is otherwise the standard lozenge shape found in many BJDs. The right thigh is resting here on top of the double hip joint.

The top of the double hip joint has a shelf at the rear to keep it at a right angle to the torso. Because of the rounded shape of this joint, when the doll’s legs are positioned for sitting, it can rock a little on hard surfaces.

I ended up getting Impldoll’s Cornelia head separately. The head has tentacles that are attached with the help of inner resin plugs and magnets.

The head cap fits on the back of the tentacle head as shown.

The tentacles can be re-positioned, but they fit best in the positions shown below. Otherwise, small differences in shape between the upper and lower tentacle can be seen, although it might not be that noticeable.

Impldoll also took some nice black and white photos of their body with the Cornelia head. As their photos are so nice, I thought I would end with a few of them.
