The dolls of Argonautica are very unusual. Most of the BJDs, which were created by Russian artist Svetlana (Lany), are based on an alien culture from her imagination.

Q: Why did you decide to make your dolls in resin as BJDs?
A: I decided to try making dolls, and it was a successful first try. It became insanely fun! Now I can’t imagine myself not making dolls. I decided to make BJDs in resin because I love them.
Q: So do you also collect BJDs?
A: Yes, I collect BJDs, and I have more than twenty.
The first BJD I bought in 2007. Now I have about 20 dolls.
Q: When did you start creating your own? What were your first dolls?
A: My first doll was also an alien (made in 2009). Height about 50 cm, made of polymer clay Fimo. Roughly speaking, the aliens, which I’m doing right now – are remakes of my first doll.
Q: Did you release your first doll?
A: My first BJD alien’s name is Alikah. It was a single copy.
Q: I really like the translucent blue resin! What is your favorite of the different colors you have used? How did you decide on your resin colors?
A: My most favorite color is lovely thistle, but I have aliens of all colors in my collection. I chose the colors after looking at deep-sea inhabitants.
Q: What are the ideas behind your alien creatures? Where do you imagine they live?
A: I love science fiction about space, planets, uncharted worlds. I decided to make my own BJDs because I couldn’t find one that reflected my vision.
Their race has long lived under water. Their ancestors came out of the water and gradually learned to walk upright, however, they didn’t leave the ocean completely. So now, they are able to live in two places – in the water and on land. Their term of life is less than on the Earth. But their freedom is not particularly limited. They have a well-developed science, they build spaceships, and gradually they conquer the galaxy, along with earthlings.
Prias and Kios travel in a spaceship. The crew consists of a variety of creatures, including humans. All of them, I would like see as BJDs in the future.
Q: Also, can you tell me about Mr. Test? Is he supposed to be based on Mr. Gold from Once Upon a Time?
A: That’s right, Mr. Test is based on Robert Carlyle. In my doll world, he is the inventor.
Q: I forgot to ask about Admet too! What is his role?
A: He has no role. He’s just a head. 😀
Q: Are you working on any of the other creatures at this time?
A: At this time I’m making a human doll. There is a lack of humans in the galaxy team.
Q: So what will be your next doll?
A: It will be two dolls. Ifit (1/3 size) and Little Ifi (1/6 size). I hope the release will start in 1.5-2 months.
