Jpop News

Jpop Dolls  has posted that a “Resin Cafe” website that is unaffiliated with the forum The Resin Cafe has opened promoting counterfeit dolls.

From Jpop:

Dear friends,

We wish to advise you that there is a ResinCafe web site that has been created by persons promoting counterfeit ball-jointed-dolls.

I would like to take this opportunity to say our forum http://theresincafe.proboards.com/ is in no way affiliated with this website. We abhor the illegal activity undertaken by those who sell, buy, import or promote counterfeit BJD’s.

Our attorneys at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP are handling this matter.

Please share this with all of your friends.

Thanks for your support,

Grace, Jpopdolls ™ and Staff, Kaye Wiggs and the ResinCafe

  1. I’m noticing that with so many people being banned from legitimate forums, some for rather unscrupulous claims, that many who don’t own recasts but were guilty by association are flocking to forums like this because they seem more accepting and less exclusive. Does the resin cafe or den of angels have any future plans to combat this?

  2. This might get removed but seeing how this site doesn’t seem to bother keeping up with it’s comments, we’ll see…

I’m more active on recast friendly forums because the community is a lot healthier in their attitude and treatment of every member as an individual. Yes, I still am a member of Den of Angels. I have been since December of 2006. I mostly lurk because the elitist attitude on that forum is almost enough to keep me from posting other than ” cute doll” once in a while.

The overwhelming opinion that the Den of Angels Moderation Team has allowed the fever of recast hate to blind them has given the once great forum a bad name. To quote a DoA long standing member ” DoA Mods are quick to ban and they allow their pride to get in the way once they realize they may have made a mistake “.

Now, even though Grace/Jpop and her associates may have taken a noble cause in which to defend, she is going about this in a very troubling way. You catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar. Grace has shown how rabid she can be in exciting her supporters into a hate mongering mob. Instead of going after recast owners, who have done nothing illegal, she should be focusing her attention to the Chinese recasters, But… since the copy write laws of foreign countries differ from those in the US, she’s not going to gain any ground here. Instead she’ll continue to bully, harass and encourage bad behavior against those who are neutral and support recast dolls.

Grace and those that follow her can be held responsible for turning a lot of “newbies” and long standing doll hobbyists to recasts as an option ( note I did not call them “art” because 99% of these toys are mass produced and no not fall under any of the criteria that is used to label anything “art” ).

I own three legit dolls and one recast. I do not apologize for owning a recast. I also own a few fake Ddung dolls, Dollar store fakie My Little Ponies, even a resin Japanese MLP fakie and I also buy knock offs and store brand items. I’ve bought several cheap “iPods” and even a fake designer bag… All from within the USA.

If Grace wants my address so she can personally bully and harass me like she has done online to others, then all she has to do is ask. It’s easy to be an internet tough guy but a whole different story when you are dealing with people in real life.

  3. Funny how my comment is unable to be posted since I supposedly posted it once all ready.

Scared to debate recasts with a recast supporter? Or is it too easy to keep the truth buried while only posting an opinion you support?

  4. No, not scared, just asleep. Comments are approved by me before they are posted. (It keeps out lot of spam!)

Recasting is stealing another person’s livelihood. It’s selfish and threatens the whole industry. I do not agree with recasting. I have friends that work very hard designing dolls for all of us to enjoy. They shouldn’t have to worry about some guy recasting their work to make easy money. Casting is a only a part of the cost of doll-making. The artist needs to make enough to spend months designing, sculpting and going through revisions to achieve the perfect creation for their customers. If they can’t support themselves doing this, they will look for another job.

As for community, people join gangs so they can be in a community, does that make what they do legit?

I don’t plan to debate you here on this, as I can tell that there is nothing I can say that will make you change your mind.

I have posted your opinion, however, so those that are interested may read it. I hope that is acceptable to you.

  5. If I spend 6 hours just to get the perfect fingernails or 4 hours to get matching nose holes and that sweet little dimple next to the lip, if my clay breaks or bubbles in the oven after a 3 day work piece and I have to start over, if it cost me 5 to 700.00 in shipping to get my limited editions to me from the caster and another 1200.00 to advertise them…, if my fingers are cut and bloody from sanding and putting 30 pairs of glass eyes in for the customers, If I spend sleepless nights setting up beautiful photo sessions or stand in mud up to my knees eaten by mosquitoes to get that one outstanding outdoor shot…. YES it is very very hurtful for someone to buy my doll mold it and sell it without any of the ideas, labor, time and costs I have incurred. I do feel its art and I do feel its theft. Its like someone stole my baby and I think it would put a crack across my heart!!
